Specialist area training

Mental Health First Aid

12 hours total broken up into two 6 hour days of face to face learning  |  Cost $300 per learner  |

At the completion of learning, participants will;

  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health problems in adults
  • Use an evidence-based action plan to initiate a mental health first aid conversation
  • Know the barriers to help-seeking and how to overcome these
  • Assess for a range of crisis situations and provide initial support
  • Understand the prevalence and impact of mental illnesses, risk factors and treatments and supports available
  • Apply self-care practices as a Mental Health First Aider

General training

Infection Control

2 hours  |  Cost $100 per learner  |  Includes assessment of handwashing, use of alcohol-based hand rub (ABHR) and donning and doffing of PPE.

Manual Handling

4 hours  |  Cost $120 per learner  |  Includes assessment of slide sheet transfers, hoists and people transfers e.g. wheelchair, chair to chair and walking aids.

Transport

2 hours  |  Cost $85 per learner  |  Includes assessment of transferring participants to and from a car.

Personal Care

4 hours  |  Cost $170 per learner  |  Includes assessment of all personal care tasks such as showering, bathing, grooming, dressing and oral care.

Assist With Medications

8 hours  |  Cost $400 per learner  |  Includes assessment for administration from Webster Paks and PRN Doses of Medications

Complex Bowel Care

4 hours  |  Cost $170 per learner  |  Includes assessment of suppository and enema insertion, digital examination/stimulation, colostomy and ileostomy care and stoma care.

Enteral Feeding Support

4 hours  |  Cost $170 per learner  |  Includes assessment of the management of PEG tubes and stoma care, feeding Equipment and Nasogastric tubes (if required).

Urinary Catheter Management and Care

4 hours  |  Cost $170 per learner  |  Includes assessment of catheter care (IDUC/SPC) management of catheters, intermittent catheter insertion (if required) and stoma care (SPC only).

Tracheostomy Care

4 hours  |  Cost $170 per learner  |  Includes assessment of tracheostomy dressing changes, stoma care and suctioning.

High Risk Seizure Management

3 hours  |  Cost $170 per learner  |  Includes assessment for the administration of seizure mediations via buccal or nasal route.

Bladder Irrigations – SUBY G and SUBY R

2 hours  |  Cost $120 per learner  |  Includes assessment of bladder irrigation procedures.

Diabetes Management

4 hours  |  Cost $170 per learner  |  Includes assessment of blood glucose level monitoring and subcutaneous injection of insulin.

Pressure Care and Wound Management

4 hours  |  Cost $170 per learner  |  Includes assessment of simple dressing application and pressure risk identification and management.
